Kanye’s Futuristic Footwear
The McFly 2015 project aims to entice Nike to release the futuristic shoes worn by Marty McFly in Back to the Future II’s 2015 scenes. The project has gained some headway, recently discovering that Nike actually patented the shoes back in 1990. Now it seems that everybody’s getting into the act — check out the cover of Kanye West’s Graduation album:
Kanye’s graduating into some cool footwear.
UPDATE: The link between the shoes and Back to the Future is confirmed by the inside album artwork.

i happen to think that sneakers have already gotten WAY TOO futuristic looking in recent years. it’s like someone said “the world doesn’t look enough like the future yet. but we can fix that through footwear!”
sneakers have been weird this whole decade. what happened to converse all-stars?!

I’ve been on board with this project since the get-go, and Nike really needs to step it up for the generation who went back to the future, but are now grown and can rock these shoes appropriately. They did release some Back to the Future edition grey Nike’s back in the day, remember? They had those things on the back that looked like jets? That shit needs to be reinvented circa 2006 with the bangin’ ass east coast street styles we all love to hate.

Too bad for the McFly project. I like him until Katrina. What arrogance.

“This is a perfect example of the Sphere of Influence in an Intention Economy. In an oversupplied and highly connected market, consumer intentions become powerful. In this case, these intentions were those of a core group of influentials. Their idea caught on with another sphere, a hyper-influential elite (West/Murakami) who made it their own through customization. This gave the project even more prominence and caché.”

I think Nike’s are going to the retro look now for the more casual crowd. Their athletic line is ugly, but I like the retro looking ones.

Retro clothing is the bomb! My favorite place to find it is Goodwill or any thrift store. Ebay is also a great place to find what you are looking for.
