Pogo Sticking For Peace

I attended an anti-war protest by the White House today and was extremely amused by one of the more creative protesters:

His shirt reads Pogo Sticking for Peace. He’s basically a bouncing South Park joke:

Step 1: Pogo
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Peace

I’ve posted my pictures from today for those desperate for anti-war protest pictures, but I’ll do another post later today that features a few of my favorites… so you could just wait for that if you’re not impatient.

ug. so many godwins. so many crazies. now i know how republicans who hate the crazie fundies feel. I wish 80% of the people in the pictures you took were off my team.

My favorite were the hard-core communists who gave speeches intended to trick people into joining their violent revolution.

MEGAPHONE GUY: Are you against the war?
    CROWD: Yes!
MEGAPHONE GUY: Are you against George Bush?
    CROWD: Yes!
MEGAPHONE GUY: Are you against the Republican takeover of our country!
    CROWD: Yes!
MEGAPHONE GUY: Will you join us in our violent overthrow of the government?
    CROWD: Ye… wait, what?

I should have video taped those guys… they were fantastic.

And, no, in fact I’m not against the war. We screwed up their country big-time and I think the least we can do for them is not to leave until we find some way to keep the whole area from dissolving into a full scale, all out genocidal civil war. I’d LOVE to pull our troops out but the scale of death that seems likely to follow if we leave now is terrifyingly high. I’m fairly solidly in the “we broke, we bought it” camp.

That’s the kind of tough decision that makes me glad I’m not in charge. Although let’s hope the people who ARE in charge have more information than I do with which to make that decision.

But we can ALL agree that pogoing for peace is a good idea, right?

  6. Troeltsch Says:

so you just went because you thought it would be humorous?

  7. DoorFrame Says:

That’s why I go to pretty much everything.
