Neo-Nazis To Noise

From Jews who hate Jews, to New Yorkers who hate noise: Henry Bean, the director of the fascinating The Believer about a Jewish neo-Nazi, has completed his second film, Noise, about a New Yorker (Tim Robbins) who can’t stand car alarms and dons vigilante gear to silence them. The story is based on the director’s own younger antics.

For someone who hates the consistently barking dog across the street from my house, this trailer makes me feel somewhat giddy.

aren’t you the least bit worried about the words “Jews who hate Jews” showing up in your RSS feed and Google searches?

#1. this movie is my worst fear about what will happen to me. you have no idea the string of profanity and insanity unleashed in my apartment on Centre Street in JP.

#2. i love that “zany” music that comes in about 20 seconds into the trailer. that tune shows up in so many trailers. what’s it from, originally? anyone know?

#3. i bet tom brady won’t be seeing this movie.

I, annoyingly, have become more conscious as of late with regard to what shows up online attached to my name. In this case, however, since I’m not endorsing Jewish neo-Nazis (except insofar as I thought that it was a good idea for a movie) I’ll probably be ok.

    double movie cliche!
    1) tim robbins in prison
    2) ‘brazil’ as a soundtrack for wacky urban insanity.

ooh, #2 makes me think it would be fun to recut the trailer for “falling down” so it’s like Brazil. Get on it, final cutters!

d’oh! i should have known that was from brazil!!

Uh, while I like the idea, this looks terrible. It looks so black and white and obvious. The evil mayor, the scoflaw that the people love, a court battle where the noise of car alarms is piped in so people “get” that it is annoying. Looks like crap to me. And why would two really hot women be with TIm Robbins? I’ve always wanted to smash the back windows on large SUVs that park like assholes. I figured if it got around that if your park like that your back window will be smashed, then people would be more attentive.

I acknowledge that this likely won’t be a good movie. It will, however, show a bunch of cars with annoying alarms getting their windows smashed in. It should be worth watching just for those feelgood scenes.

This is similar to the way that my mom is willing to watch a movie if Charles Durning is going to dance in it.

like how Roger Ebert wil like a movie if it involves a futuristic city-scape, lesbian sex, or inter-racial couples?
