New Laptop Order
I just purchased the Dell (with a smaller battery). My visit to Best Buy showed me that it wasn’t too ugly or unwieldy.
My attempt to request that they not install trial versions or other undesired crapware was met with confusion by their foreign call center staff – “I don’t think we install any trial versions of anything…”
Liar.
He also couldn’t tell me if they ship a Windows disk with the order. Yuck. I hope the $1200 savings makes it worthwhile.

they stopped shipping hard copies of the operating system years ago. booo… i never had a problem that required complete reinstallation, but it would be nice to have a hard copy.

The guy I was talking to was an idiot so I couldn’t figure out whether I was even going to go anything in the box–full cd, backup cd, no cd… unclear.
He was totally flummoxed when I told him my email address was “dell@thisdomainname.com” and it took me six tries to get him to understand that the “dell” in the email address was spelled just the same way as the “dell” in his employer’s company’s name. It was a tough phone call.

Well, the guy on the phone didn’t know if they shipped a disk or not.
