Pope Meets With Victims of Sex Abuse Scandal
Either the New York Times headline writers and photo editors have lost their minds, or the Catholic church is in much worse trouble than I thought:

as i said in my email: not as good as the herald’s headline “abuse victim says “He Touched My Heart.”"
also — on the red sox broadcast from yankee stadium last night, they hilariously said, “the locker room will have to be cleared out because the cardinals will be dressing there… not the st. louis cardinals, mind you.”

While I see the humor in this, it’s ignorant to generalize and falsely accuse religious officials who had nothing to do with this perversion of the Catholic religion.

Meg: you’re an idiot.
Catholics in America have done nothing but rape little boys since they finished raping Mesoamerican treasures 200 years ago. If you support the Catholic church you are just asking for thousands of little boys across America to get anally raped.
This pope is in on it all. You can just tell by looking at him that he is a pedophile.

shark, i didn’t even bother to read your comment, which i’m sure was worth reading. meg’s comment rocked and you were just rude.
it’s important not to overreact, especially to jokes.

serge, shark was not overreacting, but how would you know? you chose to be ignorant. the catholic church has associated itself with rape for centuries - rape of continents and peoples in the past, and rape of young boys more recently.

Like I said, I can take a joke and this one is amusing and clever, but I fail to see how accusing innocent people in general is funny. Defamation of character anyone?

Look up Cardinal Law on Wikipedia, his current position is demonstrative of the popes complacency.

Meg, the problem with your comment is that it fails to address the larger issue. You can’t just partition and compartmentalize blame on the sex offenders, the blame lies across the board starting from the pedos to everyone involved in covering their tracks, which is surprisingly large. You need to watch the film “Deliver us from Evil”, it documents how the church suppressed victims testimonies and focused on protecting the priest as oppose to the children, and due to their actions allowed the priest to molest up to 30 more children. THIS IS ONE CASE ALONE, the church payed out more then 660 million dollars to the sex abuse cases, can you imagine the number of victims there are? So don’t give me this whole don’t let a few bad apples spoil the basket mantra, the entire institution of the church was set up to protect the wrong people. Oh and by the way, I was Catholic, and I didn’t renounce my religion over one newscast report, it took a lot of research and soul searching to reach that decision.
