i thought pantyhose was already out. At least that’s what I read on a recent article on “business casual” that I can’t find anymore. One point the article made is that companies are widely variable. Lehman Bros men now have to suit up. Conservative IBM no longer does.
On my first day at my first job, the summer after freshman year, I wore a tie and was subject to “hey, you got an interview today” jokes. The culture in no uncertain terms told me not to wear a tie, not ever. This has been nothing but reinforced since.

I devoutly hope that the pantyhose industry will follow suit. (I know better than to hope high heels are next.)
